How an Engineer Clears Snow!

November 19, 2017

We received about 8” of snow here at Kenai Wildlife Cabins overnight and so far today.  This is the first “real” snow, as we have only got dustings of snow to date this season.  As this was the first, I was excited this morning to get out and play around with our new snow blower!  As I was carving a path through the pristine landscape, I laughed at myself and realized I was clearing snow like I do most things in my life – like an Engineer!

Like most obstacles or projects before me, I quickly analyzed the situation, and laid out a plan of attack, breaking it down into manageable tasks – first the main path, then the parking area, then the driveway, then the main drive.  Of course, throughout each phase, I kept a critical eye open to make sure my lines were either straight and parallel, or the curve was smooth and followed the line of the driveway!

Add to this the joy of operating the new machine – 6 speeds forward, 2 reverse, 270 degrees of chute direction, and the discharge angle!!!  I guess you can take the girl out of engineering, but not the engineer out of the girl, LOL!!

Ask me again in 3 months or so, and I will most likely be sick and tired of the snow and will loathe that snow blower, but for today, I am having fun!
